Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny, an ardent DP Ruto critic could be considering to join the competitive Nairobi politics and run for MP in 2022. Kutuny’s dalliance with Kieleweke wing of Jubilee and the ODM party are believed to be among some of the factors that may have prompted this decision.
There are claims from some quarters that the vocal MP, who has strong ties with the presidency may be run for the Langata MP seat in 2022. However, it is not clear on which party Kutuny will use to vie. There are claims he is on his way out of Jubilee and may join ODM for the seat or stay in Jubilee and run for the seat under a new party that will be formed when Jubilee finally disintergrates.
The Langata seat is currently held by Nixon Korir who is a close ally of DP William Ruto. ODM has vowed to do what it takes to recapture the seat in 2022 come what may. This was after thrashing DP Ruto in the Kibra by election. Nixon Korir was one of the team leaders in Mariga’s campaign.
Joshua Kutuny’s appearance at the ODM thanks giving rally in Kibra was not by chance. Pundits now believe, it was at the rally that the Cherangany MP was covertly announcing his entry into Nairobi politics.
“This sitting room which belongs to Raila… If I decide to run, I talk to the people, between Nixon and me, who stands a better chance of winning it? (Hii sitting room ya baba hii… Mimi nikisimama, nitupe ngeli, mimi na Nixo, nani atapata mapema),” Kutuny said on Sunday.
